Ramai Awas Gharkul Yojana is a flagship housing scheme of the Maharashtra Government under the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, launched in 2010–11 to provide free housing assistance to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Neo-Buddhist (Nav-Buddha) families in Maharashtra who are homeless or living in unsafe temporary structures. Eligibility Criteria
Maharashtra resident belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Neo-Buddhist (Navbauddha) category; should not own any permanent house anywhere in India; family income should be within state BPL norms; not already received housing benefit under any other state or central government scheme; application through district Social Welfare Office or Gram Panchayat (rural) / Municipality (urban)

How to Apply
Check Eligibility
offlineConfirm you belong to SC or Neo-Buddhist category (Navbauddha) with valid caste certificate. Verify that no family member owns a permanent house anywhere in India. Check you are a Maharashtra resident with domicile certificate.
Apply at Gram Panchayat or Municipality
offlineRural applicants: go to your Gram Panchayat with Aadhaar, caste certificate, income certificate, ration card, and land document. Urban applicants: go to your Ward Office / Municipal Social Welfare Officer. Collect the Ramai Awas application form and fill it in Marathi/English.
District Social Welfare Office Verification
offlineThe District Social Welfare Office and Gram Panchayat jointly verify your documents and site. Income and landholding details are cross-verified. A waiting list/priority list is prepared district-wise. Your application acknowledgement number is given.
Grant Approval and Work Order
offlineOnce approved and your name appears in the beneficiary list, a work order is issued. The grant (₹2.1–₹2.5 lakh) is released in 3–4 tranches: foundation, plinth, roof slab, and completion stages. MGNREGA labour is assigned during construction.
