Mission Indradhanush is an intensified vaccination campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in December 2014 to achieve full immunization of children and pregnant women who were left out or dropped out of the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). It targets 0–2 year old children and pregnant women in underserved areas — districts, blocks, or urban slums with low immunization coverage. The campaign provides 12 life-saving vaccines including BCG, OPV, Hepatitis B, DPT, Measles-Rubella, IPV, Pentavalent, JE, Typhoid, and Rotavirus. Over 5.46 crore infants and 1.32 crore pregnant women have been vaccinated across 12 phases by 2023.

Eligibility Criteria
Children under 2 years of age who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated under the Universal Immunization Programme; pregnant women who have not received Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td) injections; primarily targeted at children in low-coverage districts, urban slums, hard-to-reach areas, tribal areas, and migratory populations

How to Apply
Check Nearest Vaccination Session
offlineVisit your nearest Anganwadi centre, Primary Health Centre (PHC), Sub-Health Centre, or Urban Health Post to check the vaccination schedule. Sessions are usually held on specific weekdays (Wednesday/Friday in most states). You do not need prior registration for routine UIP vaccination.
Find a Mission Indradhanush Camp
offlineDuring special Mission Indradhanush drives (announced by district health officials), vaccination camps are set up in underserved areas, slums, and hard-to-reach villages. Watch for local announcements via ASHA workers, PHC staff, or the NHP app.
Bring Your MCP Card
offlineAlways carry the Mother and Child Protection (MCP) Card / vaccination card when going for any immunization. The ASHA or ANM worker records the vaccines given. This helps track which vaccines your child has received and which are due.
Vaccinate as Per Schedule
offlineFollow the Universal Immunization Programme schedule: BCG + OPV0 + HeP-B0 at birth; Pentavalent + OPV + RVV + PCV at 6, 10, and 14 weeks; MR + JE + PCV booster at 9 months; DPT + OPV + MR2 booster at 16–24 months. Mission Indradhanush catch-up camps cover missed doses.
Contact ASHA Worker for Home Visit
offlineASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers proactively identify unvaccinated children in their village and bring them to vaccination sessions. If your child has missed vaccines, contact your ASHA worker or ANM who can arrange a home visit in special cases.
