Lek Ladki Yojana (Beloved Daughter Scheme) is a girl child welfare scheme launched by the Maharashtra Government in the 2023–24 state budget for girl children born on or after January 1, 2023, in families with Yellow or Orange (BPL/lower income) ration cards. The scheme provides financial assistance in 5 stages from birth to age 18 — culminating in a one-time grant of ₹1,01,000 when the girl turns 18 years and completes her 12th standard education. The scheme aims to reduce female foeticide, improve girl child health, and promote female education in Maharashtra. Applications are submitted at Anganwadi centres or through the Aaplesarkar portal.

Eligibility Criteria
Girl child born on or after January 1, 2023 in Maharashtra; family must hold a Yellow or Orange ration card (annual family income below ₹1 lakh); must be born in a government hospital or registered facility; maximum 2 children per family can benefit; girl should be continuously enrolled in school from Std 1 to Std 12; final ₹1,01,000 requires girl to be unmarried at 18 years and have completed 12th standard

How to Apply
Register Birth at Anganwadi (Stage 1 — ₹5,000)
offlineWithin 6 months of girl child's birth (on/after Jan 1, 2023 in a hospital), visit your nearest Anganwadi centre → submit birth certificate, hospital delivery certificate, Yellow/Orange ration card, and guardian's Aadhaar + bank passbook → Anganwadi Sevika registers the child for Stage 1 benefit → ₹5,000 transferred to guardian's account within 6–8 weeks.

Claim ₹1,01,000 at 18 Years (Stage 5)
online / offlineAt age 18 (after completing 12th standard): submit Stage 5 claim at Aaplesarkar portal or through District Women and Child Development Office → upload 12th marksheet, birth certificate (confirming 18 years), proof that girl is unmarried (affidavit or declaration), and Aadhaar of the girl. Payment of ₹1,01,000 is transferred to the girl's own Aadhaar-linked bank account.
