Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a conditional cash transfer scheme launched on April 1, 2019 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to improve the health, education, and welfare of girl children. The scheme provides a total financial benefit of ₹25,000 (revised from ₹15,000 in 2024) per girl child across 6 stages of her life — from birth to college admission. Payments are made directly to the guardian/mother's Aadhaar-linked bank account. The scheme is linked with MKSY (mksy.up.gov.in) portal. As of 2026, over 1.87 crore girls are enrolled.

Eligibility Criteria
Girl child born on or after April 1, 2019; UP resident family; annual family income not exceeding ₹3 lakh; maximum 2 children per family eligible (exceptions for twins where third child is a girl, or second pregnancy yielding twin girls); adopted girls also eligible; must follow each stage's conditions (school enrollment, attendance, etc.)

How to Apply
Register on MKSY Portal
onlineGo to mksy.up.gov.in → "Citizen Service Portal" → "Apply Here" → register with mobile number and create password → verify OTP → log in. Fill registration form with guardian/mother's details (Aadhaar, address, income, bank account).
Apply at Block or District Office (Offline)
offlineVisit your Block Development Office (BDO) / District Probation Officer's Office / Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office → collect MKSY application form (free) → fill it in Hindi → attach all documents (birth certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar, bank passbook, domicile, affidavit) → submit and get receipt.
Get Income Certificate from Tehsildar
offlineIf not already obtained, get income certificate from Tehsildar confirming family income below ₹3 lakh/year → submit Aadhaar + ration card at Tehsildar office → certificate issued in 7–15 working days. This is required for initial enrollment.
Stage-wise Claim at Each Milestone
onlineAt each stage (Class 1 / Class 6 / Class 9 / Class 10-12 pass / College admission), log in to mksy.up.gov.in → "Stage Application" → upload the relevant proof (school admission certificate / marksheet) → submit the stage claim online. The district verifies and releases the stage payment to the Aadhaar-linked bank account.
Track Status and Check Payment
onlineAfter each application, track status at mksy.up.gov.in → "Application/Payment Status" → enter registration number. Payment is credited within 2–4 weeks of stage verification. For issues, call 1800-180-1111 or visit CDPO office. Ensure bank account remains Aadhaar-linked and active.
