How to Apply

1

Register on PM Surya Ghar Portal

online

Go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in → click "Apply for Rooftop Solar" → enter your state, electricity distribution company (DISCOM), and consumer account number (CA number from your electricity bill) → register with mobile OTP → fill in your name, Aadhaar, and address.

2

Apply for Net Meter

online

After registration, apply for a Net Meter from your DISCOM through the same portal. The DISCOM may conduct a site survey (within 15 days) to check your roof capacity and electricity load for the right panel capacity recommendation.

3

Choose an Empanelled Vendor

online

After DISCOM feasibility approval, go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in → "Vendor List" → select an empanelled solar vendor in your district. Do NOT hire a vendor who is not listed on the PM Surya Ghar portal — only empanelled vendors are eligible for the subsidy process.

4

Solar Panel Installation

offline

The selected vendor installs rooftop solar panels at your home. After installation, the vendor submits installation completion details on the portal. DISCOM inspects and installs the net meter (usually within 15 days of vendor submission).

5

Receive Subsidy in Bank Account

online

After net meter commissioning, submit your bank account details on the portal. The central government subsidy (₹30,000–₹78,000 depending on panel capacity) is credited to your bank account within 30–45 days. From now on, your solar panels generate free electricity and surplus units are sold to DISCOM via net metering.
