Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship skilling scheme under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, implemented by NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). The current version is PMKVY 4.0 (FY 2022–2026), which focuses on industry-relevant skills including AI, Robotics, IoT, Drones, healthcare, construction, electronics, textiles, and beauty & wellness. The scheme provides free short-duration training (3 weeks to 3 months) with certification, placement support, and post-placement tracking. Over 1.5 crore youth have been skilled under all PMKVY versions.

Eligibility Criteria
Indian citizen aged 18–45 years; school or college dropouts given priority; 10th class pass for most courses (Class 8 pass minimum for some); should not be enrolled in another government-funded skilling program; youth with prior experience can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certification

How to Apply
Find a Training Centre
onlineGo to skillindiadigital.gov.in → "Find Training Centre" → enter your district and preferred sector/course → see the list of NSDC-affiliated Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) or training centres near you.
Register on Skill India Digital Portal
onlineGo to skillindiadigital.gov.in → "Candidate Registration" → enter Aadhaar-linked mobile → fill personal details, education, and preferred course → submit. Your profile is visible to training centres and employers.
Enroll at Training Centre
offlineVisit your chosen PMKK or affiliated training centre with Aadhaar, education certificate, bank passbook, and photo. The centre verifies Aadhaar biometrically and enrolls you in your chosen course. Training is completely free.
Complete Training and Assessment
offlineComplete the short-term course (3 weeks to 3 months). An independent Sector Skill Council (SSC) conducts the final assessment. Pass the assessment to receive a government-recognized skill certificate.
Placement and Stipend
online / offlineAfter certification, placement support is provided by the training centre and NSDC. Daily stipend (₹200–₹500) during training is credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account. Track your certificate and placement status on skillindiadigital.gov.in.
