Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a crop insurance scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare that protects farmers from financial losses due to natural calamities, pests, and diseases. Farmers pay a heavily subsidised premium of just 1.5–2% of the sum insured; the Central and State Governments cover the remaining premium. For Kharif 2026, registration deadline is July 31, 2026.

How to Apply
Register on PMFBY Portal
onlineGo to pmfby.gov.in → "Farmer Corner" → "Apply for Crop Insurance as a Farmer" → log in with mobile OTP → fill in state, district, crop, bank details, and land area.
Apply via Bank (for Loan Farmers)
online / offlineIf you have a crop loan, your bank automatically enrolls you in PMFBY and deducts the premium from your loan account. Verify your enrollment by checking pmfby.gov.in with your bank account number.
Apply via CSC (Offline)
offlineVisit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) with Aadhaar, bank passbook, land records, and sowing certificate. The operator will register you before the season deadline.
Intimation of Crop Loss
online / offlineIf crops are damaged, inform your bank, local agriculture department, or call 14447 within 72 hours of the loss. Loss can also be reported via the Crop Insurance App.
Receive Claim
onlineAfter government crop cutting experiments and damage assessment, claim is processed. Amount is credited directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account within 2 months of assessment. Track on pmfby.gov.in → "Check Claim Status."
