PM SVANidhi Yojana 2026: Street Vendor Loan Apply Online Guide

9 min read4 August 2026

Millions of street vendors — thela walas, fruit and vegetable sellers, roadside food stall owners, and hawkers — struggle to get formal business loans because they have no collateral, no credit history, and often borrow from local moneylenders at very high interest. The Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Yojana was created to fix exactly this problem by giving vendors working capital loans directly from banks, with no guarantee or security required.

What Is PM SVANidhi Yojana?

PM SVANidhi is a Government of India scheme run by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It gives eligible urban street vendors a collateral-free working capital loan, starting at ₹10,000, with the option to take larger loans of ₹20,000 and then ₹50,000 as earlier loans are repaid on time. On top of the loan, the scheme gives an interest subsidy and a cashback reward for using digital payments.

Who Is Eligible?

  • Street vendors who were vending in urban areas on or before March 2020, and are in possession of a Certificate of Vending (CoV) or Identity Card issued by the Urban Local Body (ULB)
  • Vendors identified in the ULB survey but not yet issued a CoV/ID card — they get a provisional Certificate of Vending
  • Vendors left out of the ULB survey, or vending in adjoining development areas/rural areas, or from surrounding urban areas — they can apply through a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from the ULB or Town Vending Committee (TVC)
  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen and should not be availing a loan from any other MoHUA livelihood scheme at the same time

Loan Tranches Available

1st LoanUp to ₹10,000 — tenure 12 months, no collateral
2nd LoanUp to ₹20,000 — available after full and timely repayment of the 1st loan
3rd LoanUp to ₹50,000 — available after full and timely repayment of the 2nd loan

There is no processing fee, no prepayment penalty, and no collateral or guarantee required for any of the three loan tranches. Interest rates follow standard bank/NBFC/MFI/SHG bank lending rates minus the subsidy described below.

Documents Required

  • Any one KYC document: Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or MGNREGA Job Card
  • Certificate of Vending (CoV) / Vendor ID Card issued by the Urban Local Body, OR
  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from the ULB/Town Vending Committee if you don't have a CoV
  • Survey Reference Number (SRN), if you were covered in the ULB street vendor survey
  • Bank account details (account number and IFSC) for loan disbursal
  • A recent passport-size photograph

Interest Subsidy and Digital Payment Cashback

Vendors who repay their loan on time or in advance get a 7% per annum interest subsidy, credited quarterly directly to their bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Separately, the scheme rewards vendors for going digital: every eligible digital transaction (UPI, QR code payments, etc.) earns cashback, up to ₹100 per month, capped at ₹1,200 per year, credited directly to the vendor's bank account.

Interest Subsidy7% per annum on timely repayment, paid quarterly via DBT
Digital Payment CashbackUp to ₹100/month (₹1,200/year) for 50+ eligible digital transactions
Collateral RequiredNone — loan is fully collateral-free
Loan Ceiling (highest tranche)₹50,000, after two prior loans repaid on time

A vendor who takes the full ₹50,000 loan, repays it on time, and makes 50+ digital transactions every month can save several thousand rupees a year through the combined interest subsidy and cashback — money that stays in the vendor's pocket instead of going to informal moneylenders.

Repayment and Moving to the Next Loan Tranche

Loans are typically repaid in monthly instalments over 12 months. Once the 1st loan (₹10,000) is fully repaid on time, the vendor becomes eligible to apply for the 2nd loan (₹20,000) directly through the same portal dashboard, and similarly for the 3rd loan (₹50,000) after the 2nd is repaid. A track record of timely repayment is the single biggest factor in moving up loan tranches, so vendors should set reminders for their EMI due dates through their lending bank.

Checking Application and Loan Status

  • Log in to pmsvanidhi.mohua.gov.in with your registered mobile number and OTP
  • Go to the 'Track Application' section on the dashboard
  • Enter your Application Reference Number to see the current stage — submitted, under bank verification, sanctioned, or disbursed

Common Problems and Where to Get Help

The most common issues vendors face are: SRN not found in the ULB survey list, mismatch between Aadhaar details and the application form, or delay at the bank verification stage. If your SRN is missing, contact your local Urban Local Body office directly and ask for a Letter of Recommendation instead — this lets you apply even without a survey record.

For help with your application, call the PM SVANidhi toll-free helpline 1800-11-1979, available 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday (excluding national holidays). For unresolved grievances, you can also call 011-23062850.
